V. Elaine Stevens, the only child of Jamaican immigrants was born and raised in the South Bronx, New York City. She received a college scholarship in 1969 and graduated from Mt. Holyoke College with honors. The Home Lady® married one of her buyers, teacher Morton Whyte and they lived in the most affordable housing in Evanston, Illinois.
While living in the North Shore of Chicago, Elaine was the real estate agent who tithed 10% of her commissions to the Evanston Churches of her clients. Trained as an educator she held seminars to demystify the home buying process. The phone didn't stop ringing for five years.
Returning to Florida, Elaine was directed to the Ft. Lauderdale Vet Center to speak to the Team Leader Bobby White. Bobby also the Commander of VFW Post 8195 in Carver Ranches at that time said, “In 25 years no one ever came in to educate and empower Veterans on how to use their COE (Certificate of Eligibility) to realize the American Dream of Homeownership.
